Precious Hearts Learning Center

Stacy's weekly favorite quote from one of her favorite books or from someone special that has touched her life:

Todays Quote:

Little boys and girls can test your patience, run you ragged, and make you want to pull your hair out.  But they will also melt your heart with just one look, and make you wonder how you ever existed before them .

June Parent News Letter

UP-DATED AT 10:00 pm

Sunday, June 17, 2018

Parents many of you have been asking who all the young students are.  This year we teamed up again with Columbia Parks and Rec Care Program.  Just like last year we have 5 volunteers that are in High School and are volunteering here at the center.  They come in at different times through out the day.  They are not allowed to discipline, be left alone with the students, they are only here to assist the staff.  Please note that some of them are very tall and may look older and could pass as staff, but they are not.  We had several parents asking why they were not disciplining and taking care of the students thinking they were staff.  Rest assure they are doing what I need them to do, but please communicate if you see someone that you feel is not.  I can't see everything so I need my parents to let me know.  I need  to make sure that everyone is working and doing what I expect of them all day long.  Just ask a staff member if you are not sure which ones are Volunteers and who is new staff.

Parents we are asking that you do not allow your child to wear flip flops to school.  We are having several children trip and fall, the flip flops are breaking and we can't fix them.

Please check the website Event Calendar for the remainder of the years up coming events and days closing thru December 2018.  Please note that if we are closed they are paid days off.  We don't close for very many days through the year.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW SO THAT YOU WILL KNOW OUR PROCEDURES IN CASE OF STORMY WEATHER.

Parents, just a friendly reminder that if the sirens are going off during the storms that we will be experiencing in the next few months, if you are on PHLC premises, we will need for you to be down in the basement with us.  We will not allow any student to leave while the sirens are going off and they will need to stay in the basement until we are given the all clear.  This usually takes approx. ten minutes.  Please understand that safety is always our top priority.  This does include being in the parking lot.  We have lots of responsibilities and we really need our parents to please follow these safety precautions necessary for all of us to be safe.

Per Policy of PHLC we ask that you do not put Birthday Invitations in the students cubbies, lockers, folders or pass them out in the parking lot.   This is a policy we have for several reasons. It is very expensive for parents to have to invite every one in the class, it also is very expensive for some to go to so many parties. The main reason is because if you don't invite every one in the class, students talk and the ones not invited get their feelings hurt. We understand that kids want to have parties, but we ask that you follow our policies. This is also teaching the kids to follow some of the same policies at public school. Please if you have any questions contact me.  Please note that birthday treats are allowed to be brought on the second Friday or the third Thursday.

A NEW POLICY HAS BEEN PUT INTO PLACE AT THE FACILITY.  PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD(REN) TO WEAR THE LIGHT UP SHOES TO THE CENTER.  THEY HAVE REALLY BECOME A HUGE ISSUE DURING NAP TIME AND IT IS REALLY BECOMING A DISTRACTION FOR MANY. WE UNDERSTAND THEY LOVE THESE SHOES, BUT WE ARE REALLY HAVING TROUBLE WITH THEM PLAYING WITH THEM AT NAP AND KEEPING OUR FRIENDS AWAKE.  WE HAVE TO HAVE THEIR SHOES ON THEM DURING NAP FOR SAFETY AND EVACUATION PURPOSES, BUT MANY OF THEM ARE PLAYING AROUND AND KEEPING FRIENDS AWAKE.  WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE NOT LET THEM WEAR THEM TO THE CENTER.  THIS POLICY WENT INTO AFFECT ON OCTOBER 31, 2016
